Barclays has added a further £700 million to its PPI compensation pot after experiencing a 32% increase in claims over the last six months following the announcement of the August 2019 deadline date. Since the announcement in March 2017 the bank has already received and processed a staggering 2 million claims^.

To date, Brunel Franklin have recovered over £43m† in redress for our customers from Barclays, and with the following recent wins and, plenty more in the pipeline, this figure continues to increase.

Overdraft compensation £21,348

Kathleen from County Durham took out an overdraft with Barclays back in November 1984. Unbeknown to her she was mis-sold a PPI policy which she continued to pay premiums on until January 2009!

Brunel Franklin looked into this policy for her and was delighted to inform her on 1st August 2017 that Barclays had admitted a mis sale and agreed to refund a staggering £21,348.76. Interestingly, the total amount of premiums she had paid over the years totalled only £1,777.60. The balance of the refund was made up of interest on the premiums paid and statutory compensation interest at the rate of 8%

Sally from essex refunded "nearly £10,000"

Sally from Essex first contacted us in May 2017 about a potential mis sale on her Barclaycard which was taken out 27 years ago!
Less than 12 weeks later Barclays wrote to us to acknowledge a mis sale of PPI offering a refund of almost £10,000 (before fees & taxes)!

Millions have been mis-sold PPI

Millions of people were mis-sold PPI because their employment status didn’t fit the criteria, for example they were self-employed, unemployed or retired, or because they had a medical condition that might have precluded them from ever claiming on the policy (See Caroline's story). Additionally, many were sold PPI cover without knowing they had bought it as it was added onto their repayments without their knowledge and others were even told they wouldn’t be approved for credit without it. Is there a time limit?

It is proposed that all PPI claims need to be made by the end of August 2019. Additionally, to stand the best chance of being successful, you’re best to file a claim within the first six years after a policy has ended as lenders have to keep your paperwork on file for that length of time. That’s not to say, however, that a claim for an older policy won’t be successful. Brunel Franklin have claimed refunds dating back to the late 1970’s.

Do I need any paperwork?

Not necessarily. Whilst it’s obviously preferable to have a copy of your original loan agreement and terms, it’s not absolutely vital. Brunel Franklin, have the ability to start the claims process without any need for an account number or paperwork – in fact, all we need is your name, address and DOB to get the ball rolling.
